The American thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November. This day has its roots in the year 1621 when the Pilgrims who had migrated from England to the Americas held a feast in order to thank god for his mercy. A great feast is held till date by people all over the country and families and friends get together to have a great time on thanksgiving. The American thanksgiving history can be traced back to the year 1621 and has more than one instances attached to the day.

English separatists from the church migrated from their land aboard the Mayflower and went to Holland in search of shelter for the people. There however, they could not see the religious tolerance that they were expecting and decided to move from there too. The Americas were the next generation where the colonial Indians were already present. The Pilgrims then tried to collect food for survival. There was also a great drought due to which many pilgrims died too.

The Indians played a great role in making the American Thanksgiving history since it were they who taught the Pilgrims how to cultivate food stuffs and be able to survive on their own. A great feast was then held by both to honor the god and his blessings and to thank him for the great harvest. This American thanksgiving history paved way for the national holiday on the fourth Thursday of November which was formally announced by President George Washington.
